Muscular DystrophyEvery year at this time there is a big fund raiser for children with MD (Muscular Dystrophy). It's a horrible disease that confines children to wheel chairs and dramatically shortens their lifespans. You've seen them. They're "Jerry's Kids."And every year I get involved and help stamp out the disease (or if nothing else, make those children's short lives a little more bearable) by raising funds. I was a regular "jailbird" in Lodi, California. This is the first time I've been asked since coming to Florida. Now I need your help.

So what does it mean to be a "jailbird." It means I get "locked up" in a local restaurant (in this case) and have to post bail before I can leave. Bail, by the way, has been posted for me at $3,200. If everyone who has received letters from me just tosses in the change out of their pockets I should be free to go in no time.

Things are tough right now, I know. Things are tough for everyone, including me. What I'm going to ask you to do is give more than just pocket change. What would really be great is if you took a look at the picture and think about how much tougher it is for these poor kids whose lives have been made difficult by Muscular Dystrophy. Look at the faces, especially the eyes, of their parents. How would you feel if that were your son or daughter? Your grandson or granddaughter? How would you feel if that were you?

Join with me. Together we can make a different. Pick up a form in the church office or church sanctuary, fill it out and let's make a little life a little more bearable. If you don't attend church here or are too far away to come this weekend click on donation and bless a young life.

Oh... did I mention that this can't wait. The window of opportunity will close on July 23rd (the vent is on July 22nd) so please don't put it off. Thanks.

Pastor Z

Welcome to First Lutheran! We're glad you found us.

On the pages of this site, you'll soon discover that when all is said and done, the bottom line is that we're pretty much all about Jesus. He's the one who gives our lives purpose and meaning. We gather around the amazing news that God loves us. It isn't that we're all such great people, either. We aren't. We're like you. We have high aspirations, but often fail to be the people we aspire to be. There's still brokeness in our lives. However, God still cares about us as individuals. Even though the grunge and brokeness of life still clings to us, He's forgiven us. He even wants us to be with Him forever in Heaven.

In the pages that follow, you're going to see, through our various ministries, our response to a God who cares - even when we don't care for Him (or for those around us). You're going to see how much it means to us to have a God who loves - even when we aren't able to love Him in return, as we would like.

Maybe you wonder if there is a God... (There is.) Maybe you wonder, if there is a God, could He ever love you. (He does.) He not only can love you, He does love you. What's more, we'd love to have you learn more about His love and become a part of His community of faith.

If you have questions, please call or write me.

Your Servant in Christ Jesus,

Pastor Z
